OMG…Racist Overtones..??

OMG does it sound racist?

This is the unhappiness and uncalled for ruling which has come out from our neighbours Singapore.”Malaysians above the age of 18 are allowed to work in Singapore except for male natives from Sabah and Sarawak whose age limit has been raised to 35.”

Not only it has caused tensions but it does mean that “The new ruling has caused much difficulties to law-abiding Sabahan and Sarawakian native men, mainly unskilled and odd-job workers to work on the island.

Fresh workers below 35 were barred entry while those within that age group and already working there could not renew their work permits after they expire within two years.

Sarawak has over 40 ethnic races and besides the Chinese,Malays and Indians who live side by side with the other native races are the Ibans,Bidayuhs,Melanaus,OrangUlu, and others.  The Ibans make up the majority of the population.

Meanwhile,The people of Sabah are divided into 32 officially recognised ethnic groups. The largest indigenous native group is Kadazan-Dusun followed by Bajau and Murut besides the Chinese,Malays and Indians who also are very part of the breakdown of population.

The question now this is a very delicate position for the Malaysian Government as it involves the workers of two Eastern States of Malaysia Sarawak and Sabah.

This is not a small matter as its a very sensitive issue.

There will be repercussions as Singaporeans in General will in the long run call”natives from Sabah and Sarawak potentially uncontrollable and also troublemakers.”

Moreover not every one from Sarawak and Sabah below aged 35 should be coined as in the same mould. It has caused very bad distaste and its racially discrimanitory towards the natives of both states says many.

1.  DO YOU THINK ACTS CAUSED BY A HANDFUL  OF NATIVES SINGAPORE SHOULD PUNISH BOTH STATES ASKED ANOTHER?

2.  IF THIS HAS HAPPENED IN UK OR USA IT WILL BE VERY RACIST IN NATURE. IS SINGAPORE ABOVE ALL THIS RULING?

3.  WHERE ARE THE OPPOSITION YBS,MPS AND LEGISLATORS WHEN THE NATIVE PEOPLE OF SARAWAK AND SABAH ARE BEING TARGETTED?

4.  THE RULING GOVERNMENT HAVE MADE THEIR STAND AND AT TIMES LIKE THIS THE PEOPLE MATTERS MOSTS AND NOT JUST POLITICS TO ONES ADVANTAGE

5. THIS “ADMINISTRATIVE PUNISHMENT” BY SINGAPORE MUSTS BE DELIBERATED AND A SOLUTION MUST BE PUT IN PLACE.

This statement which was published does not give much hope on the already strained relationship which has reared its ugly head in Sarawak and Sabah” Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore Datuk Md Hussin Nayan said that during the elections in Singapore, one of the issues raised was over the high number of foreign workers there and the government had taken steps to address the matter by minimising the intake of unskilled workers.

IF Sarawak and Sabah legislators decide to ban Singaporeans from entering Sarawak and Sabah we are pretty sure there will be a huge overcry by many Asian and Western Countries.

We have made  it very clear “THERE MUST NOT BE ANY DISCRIMATION OR RACIST BAN ON NATIVES OF SARAWAK AND SABAH

RACISM MUST NOT  REAR ITS UGLY HEAD ANYWHERE BE WARNED..!!

“Whither 1 Malaysia”

We have been receiving a number of smses on the protests of  Perkasa right wing members towards MCA. It wasn’t much towards them but the message of “1Melayu,1Bumi campaign” and a warning that comes with the protests.

Millions of dollars were poured into the campaign of 1Malaysia and it seems at every corner we turn there is a “1 of this and 1 of that” It has caught on and PM is smiling that Malaysians have taken towards the 1 but will not be too happy when there are “warning overtones”

( this extracted from Malaysiakini-the group had handed MCA’s top leadership a four point warning”,

Its supposed to unite the country through cutting out the barriers of multi-racialism,multi-culturalism and multi- ethnicity but not breakup the harmonious and tolerancy towards each others race.

The sms we receive in particular has this,”What abt 1dayak? Or 1Sarawak? Very soon the Chinese will have 1Foochow or 1Hockien and Melanaus will also have theirs 1MukahMelanau,1MatuMelanau while dayaks might have 1BidayuhBau,1BidayuhSerian or even 1Iban Betong, 1Iban Kapit.

What will become of 1Malaysia?

It’s whithering right and directly under the noses of the Prime Minister Najib who is instrumental in making sure that this campaign will fit into every Malaysian life. It’s his campaign and surely he will not want it to be decimated.

I received another sms which says the Perkasa boys are like West Ham supporters ‘blowing bubbles” and hoping their team will not be relegated at the end of the season while 1Malaysia Najibs campaign will see Manchester United as Champions for the 19th time. So will you choose Perkasa’s overzealous promotion of utusan malaysia’s brand 1Melayu ,1bumi or Najibs 1Malaysia? WE choose winners right……

Let the newspapers fight their own wars and we as Malaysians should safeguard our national identity of A Multi racial country made up of different races, cultures, religions and where we lived harmoniously side by side in peace.

Malaysia is united and 1Malaysia is here to stay….

Hamim Husin,”Why OooH Why..??”

Yesterday we wrote “Racial Slur ..it takes all of us..??” We have been receiving positive responses from our readers/friends near and far and many just couldn’t understand on Why  Oooh Why did he have to say what he said.

Does he know that he is indirectly hitting with his right hand an uppercut at the Prime Minister Najib especially so with Najib at the UN Assembly saying that the moderates must now take centrestage instead of letting the extremists holding the world hostage by their bigotry and bias.

The Malaysian Cabinet it seems is so not amused and judging from this report which we will upload HamiM Husin will need to sought out for something better to do in the very near future. In other words his DAYS ARE NUMBERED.

WILL HE RESIGN OR BE PUSHED OUT? YOU BE THE JUDGE…

The cabinet is upset over allegations that racial slurs had been uttered by a senior National Civics Bureau (BTN) official against ethnic Chinese and Indians during a recent function with Puteri Umno.

NONEAccording to reports, Human Resource Minister Dr S Subramaniam said the cabinet also ordered the chief secretary to the government Mohd Sidek Hassan to investigate the claims against BTN deputy director Hamim Husin.

Hamim was alleged to have referred to the Chinese as si sepet (squinty eyes) and Indians as si kaki botol (alcoholics) when speaking of the need for Malays to cooperate with other ethnic communities for political purposes.

Subramaniam, speaking after the cabinet’s weekly meeting, said the ministers were upset to hear of the allegations and wanted a full investigation.

“All we have now is a report on an online portal, claiming the deputy director made racist remarks. This is not enough to take action against the person involved.

“Chief Secretary to the Government Sidek Hassan has been directed to investigate the allegations first, before any action is taken,” the MIC vice-president added.

Lets see some ACTION sooner rather than later…

I’m sure most bloggers will not hesitate to pin him down and give him a good uppercut. Will YOU..???

audie61 stand by this,”To me racial lines, racial overtones, also racial “spat“ and practically a “fist in your face to prove your racial superiority” is a way back in time and the fight back for everyone has just begun.

RACIAL SLUR..”IT TAKES ALL OF US..??”

RACIAL SLUR. If you have any friends left or have they started to look at you one kind in the eyes.National Civics Bureau (BTN) deputy director Hamim Husin.

GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE STARTED . HOW COULD YOU..?? Read here:-Why did you need to call Chinese as “si sepet mata” (slitty eyes) and Indians as “kaki botol” (alcoholics).

In the year 2008 May 18th we wrote :- Ugly-Head fighting back
https://audie61.wordpress.com/2008/05/18/ugly-head-fighting-back/

My late journalist friend SC Chan commented

Thank goodness, those who utter racist remarks belong to a very small group, not even what I would call the minority. They do so ,if they are politics, because they are pushed to a corner or they are so obessed by deep hatred for a certain member(s) of another race after being insulted or because of outsiders’ perception of what their kind are like, which is usually not true at all. When you utter a racist remark you will be remembered for a long time. Two individuals did that, one a politician who did that many years ago, and the very people he thought he was championing rejected him so many times at the polls. Blame it on money politics? The other is one of the local politicians who think his kind no longer need other races to help them advance economically. He doesn’t know what he is talking about? His politics lacks the finese or touch of touch. There is surely a better word for cultural arrogance. Antho- centurian?

IN 2009 February 18th this happens “Anjing, keling’:Student files report” and we said,”Lets Kick Racism out of schools” and emulate the football culture of “Kick Racism Out of Football” Our article https://audie61.wordpress.com/2009/02/20/kick-racism-out-of-schools-malaysiakini/

One of our comments had this,”

Last year I commented. I will repost what I wrote here,”Racism should be left deep in the dark waters. But unfortunately it happens everywhere. Yes, I agree it is a matter of educating the generations. It is afterall a vicious cycle & we will never be able to completely banish this disease.
Kudos to the author for daring enough in bringing his thoughts in writing.

Hiro

It seems when Najib is out of the country in his maiden speech at the UN General assembly when he said that moderates must now take centrestage instead of letting the extremists holding the world hostage by their bigotry and bias. Very well said PM Najib but unfortunatedly when you are not in town the SHIT HITS THE FAN.

What happened? Barisan Nasional leaders, minus Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, today condemned yet another racial slur from a high ranking officer on the government payroll.

They also agreed that it had rendered another devastating blow to Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s 1Malaysia campaign. Muhyiddin, however, claimed to be in the dark and reserved his comments about the latest controversy.

BY THE WAY how is the investigation work on the school principals who insulted their students with racist remarks.?? Sooner or later if left unchecked it will escalate further and it may take even a different angle. Its time to clam down on this.

RACISM MUST REMAIN IN THE DUNGEONS OR ELSE WE MIGHT JUST BE IN FOR SOMETHING WHICH WE MALAYSIANS NEVER BARGAINED FOR.

Malaysians will know that we must never COMPROMISE ON RACISM. Its ugly,it scars and it hurts where even your heartbeat does not dare to venture.

Racism is not only calling names or marginalisation but it goes beyond that. My better half did comment to me that sometimes subconciously we forget that we are really ‘racist”. It only needs to be checked and tolerated.

LETS DO THIS TOGETHER SHALL WE AND SAY THIS..

To me racial lines, racial overtones, also racial “spat“ and practically a “fist in your face to prove your racial superiority” is a way back in time and the fight back for everyone has just begun

LETS SEND IT BACK TO WHERE IT BELONGS…………

I SWEAR I FEEL THE PAIN…

OMG..”RED PAINT IN JOHOR”

NONEA catholic parishioner said to audie61,”OMG…OH MY GOD…Seems that the church is also targetted like the church owes money to the Ah Long’s or its desecrated by them. Its not a LAUGHING MATTER ANYMORE MY FRIENDS..The message could be worse than that said another,”the culprits want to see blood spill in order to achieve their aims. The authorities needs to nab someone fast or else it will go on and its just  like a “SERIAL KILLER” and many would copycat the actions.

{ Red Paint usually used by Ah Long’s “Money Lenders in Malaysia” on their pursuit of those who owe them $$$$$$$ by throwing paint on the borrowers houses or establishments

According to the report in Malaysiakini “azlanseven plastic bags filled with red paint were hurled at the church and it splattered on the back of the saint’s statue, flooring and fence.

It was also reported in Chinese-language daily Sin Chew Daily that the police found two emptied paint cans in a nearby drain and in front of the church gate.

This latest incident brings to 11 the recent attacks on places of worship, with 10 affecting churches.

Kudos for PRS President

 Cindy of audie61 received a number of smses which heaped praise and acclaim for PRS President James Masing on his stand and speech On Religious Tolerance in which it was highlighted in todays English daily. Amongst them was an sms which reads, Well done and its about time to hit the right notes especially with the racial tensions in the peninsular at knives edge.         { audie61 detests racism and we should KICK IT OUT AS IT DOES NOT HAVE A PLACE IN OUR SOCIETY}

Bugi and Cindy says,”What say You..?”

Our Sabah correspondents Bugi Wijaya and Cindy Bernadette files this story from the Land Below the Wind:-

While the main stream media and bloggers in Peninsular has news of the recent anti-ISA demonstration, the media and the public in Sabah has other topics on their mind.

It is the talk of H1N1 that has hog the coffeeshop talks and rumours has it that there is a serious outbreak of the virus with a number of schools being closed or on the alert.  There are instances of parents who has not sent their children to schools for fear of the outbreak.

A check in local pharmacies shops has revealed a sold out of hand sanitizer liquid and stocks for masks are running low.

In the aftermath of the anti-ISA demo in the nation capital, Audie61 team went out to gather some feedback from the general public.

According to Ronnie who is a political analyst Sabah is not a stranger to demonstration.  The most negative impact was in the 80s when then opposition PBS were in power in the state.  Everyone from that era can recall the destruction to private properties and civil unrest especially in the Karamunsing area where business and warehouse were affected and burnt down.

People are generally fed of demonstration.  They will just wait patiently for the general elections should they wish to change things.

Meanwhile, the general perception of the public is that it is better to wait than to demonstrate.

Sabah is enjoying growth and development since the Berjaya era and under current Chief Minister Musa Aman the state financial balance has returned to the black.  With Sabah and Sarawak being the fixed deposit for the ruling Barisan Nasional in Malaysia, it is honeymoon period especially for Sabah.

Currently, it has more Federal Minister than Sarawak and UMNO Vice President Shafie Afdal has the potential to go all the way and may one day be Sabah’s first Prime Minister.

However, while the top leaders of BN in the state are dedicated and committed to their work, there are also a lot to be desired of some “so-called” leaders.  But with the opposition Pakatan Rakyat and Yong Teck Lee’s SAPP each going their own way, BN is here to stay for a long time.

 What say you?

Any Dream Will Do: The final 10

( Joseph BBC1-Any dream will do Astro Channel 713 Sundays) Scott Matthewman wrote-we’re on to the loincloths. None of the boys look bad without their clothes — one or two look very good indeed, although I think I’d better keep my opinions to myself on that score)

The following below were posted by audie 61 on July 28th and we thought that this very sensitive issue should be put to rests. We also wrote an article on July 27th https://audie61.wordpress.com/2009/07/27/cawat-issue-stay-clear-wanitas/ to try to bring some senses and maturity to the highly volatile and sensitive issue.

A very good friend of mine let’s just called him Azman telephoned me from Semanjung Malaysia this morning and told me about a blogsite which is very instigative in nature and trying to pour oil in the already burning fire. He was not amused as his PAS friends took offence.

The observations from the writer in the blog,’Borneo-Warrior” in his observation was,”1. Pas supporters also worn the cawat during the Manek by-election. Instead of wearing the cawat in the pelvic area (as the so-called natives in Sarawak do), they wore the cawat in their heads.( cawat in their heads please, my friend he said and can you please tell him )

We know two wrongs don’t make a right and we have said our part by virtue these updates to our article:-

Updated 28th July :- Sms sent to Secretary General of PRS– Wilfred Nissom.Thank God and Glad there is no burning of PAS Flags. We are better than that.( A flag is revered symbol and burning it is profoundly offensive gesture towards the country/party/institution-Wikipedia)

Updated 28th July 9.30am- Headlines “Gathering to burn PAS flags put off, says PRS man. The full story can be seen in Todays Borneo Post Article page 12. Was this our timely intervention with our article and thus someone politically connected with the Prime Minister’s department raised the ALARM BELLS. Thank God or else all Hell would have broken loose.

We also know according to the blog that Politics is about twisting, carrying on..and on.. but this issue is more than that as it will aggravate it into a RACIAL ISSUE. DO we need that..??

We say as always,”There are many ways to generate political mileage and also playing politics but further aggravation of race, culture.colour, religion and sensitive issues shold be dealt accordingly with  the right way and methods.

‘Cawat” Issue..Stay Clear Wanita’s??

Last Friday before I posted the article on ” Wanita PKR Sarawak- A New Dawn” I asked PRS Batu Lintang Wanita Chief and Treasurer are they ready if chosen at an instant to stand for the coming elections. Of course, they said we are in politics not only to serve and fight for the party but also groomed to take over. In my article I mentioned ,” PRS has yet to field any wanita candidate but it is speculated by PRS members that the current Wanita chief Doris Brodie is being groomed to be a candidate. How ironic it is today she seems to grab the headlines and suddenly appears? Something is brewing and are they any connections to the New Dawn?

This is what she said in the Sunday Borneo Posts,’

Expressing anger over Hadi’s remarks about Batang Ai voters recently, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) women chief Doris Sophia Brodie said yesterday the remarks reflected the type of leaders PAS and PR have.

“Obviously, PAS and Pakatan are not ethnic-sensitive, thus they can forget about making their existence felt in Sarawak especially in Dayak dominant areas. On top of that, it is such remarks that stir racial tension,” she said.

“I think what Hadi said should hit the nail squarely for Dayak opposition leaders. Clearly, Pakatan and PAS do not have them or the Dayak at heart, to them the Dayaks are just to make the numbers and their laughing stock.

In this respect, she said the PRS women of Batang Ai, Simanggang and Bukit Begunan divisions would come out in full force to support PRS Batang Ai youth in its plan to burn PAS flags in Engkilili town todayk.

We are at bests trying to STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS ISSUE AS POSSIBLE. However,we know that a fire would not have started  if the sparks are not lighted.Sarawak Wanita Chiefs from PKR/DAP/PAS/SNAP should not only stay silent on this issue as the Wanita Chief from PRS  has already lashed out. Recently joined PKR former MCA leader Chua Jui Meng would be telling you all,” A Politician is not a Politician if she/he keeps quiet.”

We received a number of smses but this from a senior a dayak leader and a former high ranking civil officer which will be open to your interpretations ,”Mrng bro.what Hadi meant was, dyks hv cawat political mentality.f u say dyks r well clothed 2 refer 2 hadi’s statement, once again hadi n d rest will laugh at n deride even phd educated dyk pol leaders ENDA NEMU RETI JAKO SINDIR”

Burning FLAGS please, please, please I don’t buy that. It’s like Hooliganism in football where rival Fans taunt each other by burning flags on the terraces. Who has come out with this idea.? This is POLITICS AND NOT FOOTBALL.The person who has even initiated this idea let alone carry it out should be TAKEN AWAY and PUT IN JAIL AS THIS IS NOTORIOUSLY EVIL THOUGHT.

audie61 seriously take this as an attempt to instigate a TRULY EXPLOSIVE situation. It’s uncalled for even by PRS Batang Ai Youth. PM ‘s department and the authorities concerned should seriously look into this very  MINDLESS AND THOUGHTLESS  POLITICAL ACT.

IN Malaysia we have enough problems with death and we do not need our political strategists from any political party be it BN/PAKATAN to even think of this. This will eventually lead to  even worse scenario. It only takes someone to singlehandedly take it a step higher,”TORCH PAS HEADQUARTERS” Then what will happen?

PM Najib we do not need to be reminded of the Brixton,Guildford,Manchester nor Liverpool riots where cities just burn through the night for seven to ten nights in the 80’s. (150 buildings damaged,30 burned down)

We say as always,”Politics is politics, but do not take it overboard and it will turn ugly and the whole country suffers. The country is already suffering economically and we do not need another FLAG BURNING THOUGHT to aggravate the precarious and fluid political situation.

“Classifieds- Gawai Message from Joseph Entulu Belaun”

On this beautiful Sunday Morning as the dayaks get ready to celebrate the “Gawai DayaK’ celebrations with their loved ones, parents and families audie 61 would also like to take this opportunity to wish all their friends, supporters, allies,FELLOW SARAWAK BLOGGERS and audie61 staff  a very ‘Happy and Homely Gawai Dayak 2009”

Today in the Sundaypost on Page C12 of the Classifieds page Federal Deputy Minister of Rural Development and also PRS Deputy President has taken a full page and a Gawai Statement which is copied in FULL and is SELF EXPLANATORY. For those who do not subscribe to the English Sarawak Tabloid Borneo Posts this is the ACTUAL COPIED VERSION (word for word) where all details are as of the print classified page:-

To all my fellow Dayaks,

On the eve of our Gawai Dayak Day,may I wish all of you the warmest of regards and the happiest Gawai Dayak Celebration. This is also a very opportune and appropriate time to place in proper perspective the recent’Dayak controversy”

During my conversation (it was not even an interview)with one Bernama reporter and a few other reporters,I related the concern voiced by a Dayak leader(unanimously supported by all other Dayak leaders present)during a certain high-levle meeting(on other matters) in Kuala Lumpur. His concern was with regards to the use of the words”DAN LAIN-LAIN” in government forms(fpr jobs, scholarships, etc applications) to identitfy races other than Malays,Chinese and Indians. It was suggested that the racial identification using ‘DAN LAIN- LAIN” be dropped. I related to the reporters present thatt I agreed completely. In fact, I even called for the government to immediatedly drop such an identification and replace it with :Iban,Biadayuh and Orang Ulu” (for Sarawak’s purpose).

A Bernama reporter asked me why not replace with the word’DAYAKS” instead of Iban,Biadayuh and Orang Ulu.I replied by relating my interactions with our fellow Peninsular Malaysians. During my “perpaduan and integrasi” interactions with them throughout the length and breadth of Peninsular Malaysia, I was told of THEIR NEGATIVE PERCEPTION (NOT MINE, NOT MY LACK OF PRIDE) of the word “DAYAK”. They perceived Malaysian Dayaks to be like Dayaks that they know of in another country.

It was and is because of my pride and concern for my community that I, therefore, proposed the replacement with “Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu” – in GOVERNMENT FORMS ONLY. I never suggested or intimated in any way during the conversation that the “DAYAK” be dropped in any other context of usage. I even stressed that “DAYAK” must continue to be used for associations, politics and the like. The report in the Borneo Post on 11.05.09, purportedly obtained from Bernama, was erroneous. The Utusan Borneo report on the same date was correct.

Unfortunately, my fellow Dayaks chose to believe the report and insinuated that I am not proud to be a Dayak. Consequently, subsequent hightlights and comments focused on the wrong issues. The issue is not whether Dayaks are or should be proud of being Dayaks; we all are proud.

Is there any person in this world who is not proud of his own race?

Le us not get distracted from the real issues. The real issues (raised) are:

(i) Should we drop the words “DAN LAIN-LAIN” and replace them with “Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu (Or dayak; it is okay with me); and

(ii) How do we correct the misperception?

I would like to repeat my call to the Federal government to immediately identify us as Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu, boxed separately , and drop the identification as “DAN LAIN-LAIN”. I hope I will get a chorus of support and openly expressed.

To correct the misprception, I suggest the National Gawai Dayak be held and rotated annually in different state capitals in Peninsular Malaysia. I am sure, in due time, Dayaks in Malaysia will be perceived as we truly are: civilized, educated, dynamic, intelligent and diligent.

The 1st of June, 2009 is an auspicious day to begin our real Peninsular – and not lip-service ineffective – effort to correct the misperception.

Once again, Selamat Gawai Dayak, 2009.
