Sarawak,”Today we friend-friend,tomorrow we no friend.”

2019 to 2020 will be interesting times ahead for Sarawak Politics. Even before we embark on the new year the war of words has begun with both sides of the political divide “trading punches’ which has already blemish and tainted the word “FRIENDLY”

Is there such a word as “FRIENDLY” in the political world?

Usually one would associate politics with alliances and more so as “Common Interest” to serve the purpose.

Sarawak’s relationship with the Federal Government through the years from 1963 till now has been “cordial” to ensure that whatever should be accorded or agreed upon must be executed as per MA63.

The Late “Tok Nan” was very instrumental in fighting for Sarawak’s rights and he never minces his words and the statement(below) in June 2015 paints the right picture the relationship the State had with the Federal Government.

He also used to remind us about knowing our “History” be it about Sarawak or Politics.

I hope we choose people we know, not people who take orders from peninsular and elsewhere; people who don’t know us. It’s not that we don’t support peninsular. We support, but according to our own ways.

I keep on reminding Petronas, if it’s gas or oil from Terengganu or Kelantan, whatever, I do not care. But if it is from Sarawak, then I do care. Not successful yet, our talks on oil royalty, but I will not stop,

Former CM and the Late Abdul Rahman Yakup in December 1972 said,”politics and political systems grow and develop with time and experiences so too must politicians.

e118a.jpgThis pictured caricature which we came across best describes the politics that Malaysia and Sarawak would be going through. There will be all sorts of accusations plus dirty linens being hurled at each other not from the TOP LEADERS though but the from under-linings of the political divides.

It will engulf into bitterness flame even though there is a truce in Federal and State “friendliness”

Lately, a Sarawak MP and former Minister in PM Department Nancy Shukri was even addressed down by Minister of Communications and Multimedia Gobind Singh Deo as she queried on “media covering events organised by the Sarawak government in Sarawak.”

Instead she received this ““You say you are Pakatan-friendly but at the same time you don’t allow leaders to attend the state functions.”

To further proof our point the title,””Today we friend-friend,tomorrow we no friend.” is anything but cordial for the second or third echelon leaders is when the Sarawak Pakatan leaders are anything but unifying in their approach to fight for Sarawak’s rights on autonomy.

We must best be reminded that this fight is for autonomy and not about a “referendum of pulling out from Malaysia”

Sarawak Pakatan leaders have their own take on this matter as Chong Chieng Jen in June 2018 in the edge financial daily ,”

Chong, the member of parliament for Stampin in Sarawak, said Pakatan had in its manifesto stated that if the coalition took over Putrajaya, it would offer Sarawak 20% of gross value from oil extracted within the state as royalties, plus 50% of taxes collected in the state.

“In return, the state government will take up the responsibility and financial burden of the state ministry of health and ministry of education in Sarawak. This has been our proposal in our manifesto, meaning we pay for our own teachers, doctors and nurses, and medicine that we procure,” he said.

“So it is a whole package, it is in line with the pursuit for more autonomy for the state government,”

That was in June and a few days ago after the PKR elections the PKR former Information Chief and presently Division Chief of Betong said in his opening statement ,”I am amused that just this week, three PBB strongmen have seen fit to focus their attention on me; Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, Dato Abdullah Saidol and Dato Idris Buang. I must be saying something right for them to single me out on my comments and opinions.

The Pribumi Parti Bersatu Malaysia Launching in Bintulu on December 1st which some PH members touched on PBB was also a cyber ‘time bomb” which many from either political divide saw it as opportunity coming out to attack or to defend their turf.

It gets even more juicier as DAP YB Violet Yong defended Deputy Minister Chong as he was brought to the cleaners by Assistant Minister Hasidah,”Grow up .Don’t be boyish complaining all the time. We don’t have time for all this. We want to build the country and Sarawak.”

GPS Government under Abang Johari has also been taken to task by another DAP leader in its Youth Publicity Secretary to stop playing “ping pong” in blaming Pakatan Harapan for its failure in restoring Sarawak and Sabah status.

However, GPS government being a state party must thanked CM Sabah for his timely statement which will be a good right hook up the chins of PH leaders in Sarawak.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said on Sunday that the federal government could not afford to fulfil its obligation to return 40% of revenue it derived from Sabah, citing the government’s financial situation

If they are sick, we will be worse off. We want to have a closer relationship with the federal government and at the same time, we want to develop Sabah and prosper the people,” he said.

A former Senior Sarawak State Minister added his version on this matter,” It’s about unity and coming to terms on agreement which will benefit the people. Look at yourself in the mirror. Doing is not as easy as Rhetoric.

The State Government of Sarawak under The Chief Minister Abang Johari has embarked on delivering its promises to the people through its people centric and rural biased budget. CM Abang Johari is carrying out the work which the late Tok Nan in the run up to the 2016 elections had promised to the people.

PH leaders must now come to terms that they too a running a Federal government and there should not be too much politiking but executing all the promises and policies to the people.  In this instance the people of Sarawak comes first and that is their fundamental right as they have voted for the government of the day he added.

An emeritus professor further clarified,”GPS has just received its registration and it is not all wine in new bottle. Oh..!! by the way and do remember PH has some of their ‘top leaders who fall in that category. ( *wink*)

Furthermore GPS coalition is now not answerable to its masters formerly BN in the Peninsular. PH leaders in Sarawak are still very much answerable and they are only ‘chapters’ or ‘divisions” in the whole central/federal party setup. “

The State governments of Sarawak under GPS or Warisan under Sabah can be friends or political allies to ensure a ‘common goal or interest” for the benefit of the State and its people.

Ultimately, this rift between PH Sarawak and GPS will not be solved by just patting each other on the shoulder or holding hands. There will still be animosity and there will still be many “Heroes” Championing for the people.

Many issues will be extra ordinarily sensitive to the people of Sarawak and any counter productive measures will jeopardise the “friendliness” of a Federal State relationship.

The reality on the ground in Sarawak is that the majority of the population will want to protect and safeguard Sarawak’s rights. The people of  Sarawak will also not want to be  perceived as a “fixed deposit” for any coalition in their quest for selfish political ambition.

The Sarawak Members of Parliament and Assemblyman has entered a new chapter in their political journey ever since May 2018 and many will need to remember that Friends in Politics are very much an alliance for a “common interest”

Sarawak Cabinet Reshuffle,’New and Experienced Players..”

Let us not get ahead of ourselves. In actual fact the rumour mill and speculations have surfaced in Putrajaya (K.L) and not Petrajaya ( Sarawak)

The write up below from an internet portal amongst many others which has appeared in mainstream media has indeed created more than ripples at the corridors of power in The Federal Capital.

We extract and re post and Hopefully we will not be subjected as to what has happened to ‘Local YB” whose posting on FACE BOOK created an uproar and went viral in the social media world and was subsequently charged by the House with a fine of M$2000.

There had been speculation of a cabinet reshuffle for weeks, following public criticism of the way several ministers, most of whom are in the government for the first time, are carrying out their duties.

Dr Mahathir himself had said he would give some new ministers a score of only 40% to 50%.

The Prime Minister has every right within his parliamentarian jurisdiction to juggle or reshuffle his cabinet  as we know it is “HIS PREROGATIVE“.

Mahathirs own words,”“There will always be defects. No matter who we choose, there are bound to be people who will express dissatisfaction. So we will try. If the performance is unsatisfactory, we will drop and choose someone else”.

The Pakatan Harapan Government no doubt is only 6 months old but the Rakyat will not want to listen to lame excuses and the blame game especially so after the promises dished out during the campaign period during GE14.

The PM needs to ensure he stays on track in his 2nd time back as Prime Minister. Voices are already been heard loud and clear and nothing escapes the public eye especially so in this globalised digital age and border less world.

Over here in Sarawak, it does seem that the cabinet reshuffle has gained traction and there are even suggestions that the Chief Minister of Sarawak after a successful DUN sitting from November 5th to 14th November should take advantage of the FEEL GOOD FACTOR by adding some new plus capable players and also some experienced ones who are able still to contribute greatly.

One of our very first article on this subject matter we wrote way back 10 years ago in 2008 and another one in 2011

Some of the assemblyman who served during that period have since been elevated to Assistant Ministers and Full Minister and also CM in the late Tok Nan.

The present crop of assemblyman are all very capable players who can “score” a goal against the opposition and not scoring own goals says a former PBB youth exco member. He does have no qualms in saying that the “Present Youth chief of PBB deserves to be considered for a cabinet position as he knows how to score as a striker.

Don’t forget that the former PBB Youth Chief was a Federal Deputy Minister and later became Full Minister.

The Football analogy is easier to explain he said, As Team Manager Abang Jo knows his present squad of players have performed admirably and have won many games against the opposition but in this trying and competitive times new players needs to be signed up to energise the team.

Putting on the team colours, socks and signature boots the new players will not have trouble blending in and they will definitely score with the help and assistance from the others.

Abang Jo is indeed lucky too as his BENCH is full of Experience Internationals and ball winners who not only know how to defend but also score the crucial ‘winning goal”. There must be a BALANCE in the new blend of young capable players plus experience who will make up a solid attacking team and solid defence.

Abang Jo knows that Youth Empowerment (attack) and rural development( defence) will ensure that his tenure as the Team Manager will be steadfastly secured.

The Football League  is ongoing  but it is going be very interesting and tough with the other teams fast catching up with new owners, new systems and new coaches.

rentapWhen Rentap Jabu the PBB Youth Chief and Layar Assemblyman in the August House spoke on “Youth Development Fund” it captivated many young entrepreneurs. He said this financing facility would help youths to get start up funds in the form of micro credit and micro financing.

Rentap scored a very good goal in saying this,’There are many youths who would want to venture into business and entrepreneurship but they are faced with obstacles in getting capital especially among those fresh graduates.

“With this Fund, they not only get financial assistance but also guidance on business plan and model, and having their performance monitored. This Fund also provides opportunities for them to develop into digital-era entrepreneurs,

Abang jo’s Rural Transportation Programme (RTP) is a big plus and struck the right chord with many Sarawakians.

A Senior and experienced leader in PBB said GPS Has made the call and the assemblyman in the rural areas must deliver or else they will be shipped out.

The development biased and rural focus budget 2019 shows that CM and his team are truly committed to narrow the development gap between the urban and rural areas..

It also means placing a greater priority on rural development by providing key infrastructures such as major road connections, clean and safe water supply, electricity and other basic amenities for the rural areas.

“This will create a conducive environment to attract private investors to venture into viable economic activities like plantation, aquaculture, large-scale food production and processing and other resource-based value-added industries.

“This could bring in more capital to develop the economic potentials of the rural areas, creating cluster of related business that generates employment opportunities for the rural people.

The Feel good factor is there and it will only be a matter of time that the CM will capitalise on adding on to his team to make it more solid.

It is after all his PREROGATIVE and Abang Jo as Team Manager knows clearly looking at his bench he has youth and experience players waiting to be called up as STRIKERS to score the goals.

The players on the bench are all ready when the team manager signals.

Abang Jo’s,”Bold Budget 2019 Further Transforms Sarawak”

True to his words and CM Abang Jo delivered Sarawak’s Budget 2019 which by far to date is the boldest. The figures below are broken down to substantiate where the development funds and expenditures would go to.

Even Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak Chairman and Kota Sentosa assemblyman said he supported the Budget, so long it is legally and constitutionally right.  He even went on to say “But of course it is evident that it proved the saying that a little competition is always good, especially in politics. Then the “Rakyat” will benefit.

It’s rather unusual for an Opposition leader to come out with a statement in support. According to a political analyst it does seem that the Opposition leader Chong Chieng Jen must have finally come to terms with CM Sarawak’s People Centric Development Programme.

Is he really saying this to get on the good side of the people?

CM Abang Jo at his boldest is carrying a message to the people that it is within the hallmarks and framework that GPS Ruling Government will carry out its mandate and deliver its election manifesto of 2016.

The 2019 budget will ensure that for the year the peoples aspirations will be met and the GPS Government will honour what has been promised in this budget.

The people will be the judge and the jury and GPS ruling government will not want to ‘harp on empty promises” as Sarawak was clearly short changed in the Federal Budget of 2019. The repercussions will be serious and  peoples perceptions towards “the failed system of governance” will be shown in the ballot boxes.

The people will want development which will spur not only economic benefit for Sarawak but also for themselves. The ruling GPS government has not left anything to chance and the Budget 2019 is an Indication that the People’s Aspirations will be fulfilled.

Our sources on the ground covered  a number of Sarawakians and one of them did make a witty reply on the question on :-Why only now and not during BN are we using our own money that is our reserves?

Simple logic and the answer:- Why should we use our own when we are given and we keep ours in the bank to generate interest and use it only when the time is right. The time is now and CM Abang Jo is decisive and his team is making the right call. The Timing is Perfect and it will galvanise all Sarawakians.

CM even came out with a great master plan for Sarawak in getting more revenue for the State to ensure the development plans for Sarawak will proceed as planned.

The opposition front (Sarawak PH) had anticipated that the Federal Budget announced would be very much in their favour but unfortunately it felt short of that.

Even the perimeter survey fund vanished into thin air and both DCM Sarawak had their say on this Matter.

  • DCM Uggah ‘Nothing on land, which is very disappointing for the natives. Our farmers are very disappointed.
  • DCM Masing,”being the Champion of NCR land,Baru did not work hard to persuade the PH Government to allocate Federal funding for perimeter survey.

Abang jo being the Chief Minister and Chief Financial Administrator of the State does not want the people to miss out to be a high income State by the year 2030.

Much needed to be done and CM Abang Jo knows that the GPS Government needs to be very resilient and focused on their plan of action.

Abang Jo has devised his action and he is decisive and he must been given sound advice from his generals and lieutenants.”Executing a strategy without engaged people is impossible, and brilliant strategies without execution are meaningless.”

aaaamawanOur media team persevered and managed to contact ‘media savvy” Senior PBB member and current Pakan assemblyman William Mawan and he was not short of praises for CM Abang Jo.

He said,”At the time of Confusion with regards to project implementation after which the Federal Government shortchanged Sarawak in the Federal budget 2019  CM Abang Jo is very decisive to LEAPFROG  Sarawak to be much more developed and more modern.

We shall be Transformed especially in the Rural Areas where most of the the Funds are Geared up and allocated to propel  the areas to be develop for the benefit of the people. Roads,Bridges,Electricity, Water are primary objectives plus also schools are also given top priority.

CM Sarawak in his closing remark,” the destiny of Sarawak can only be determined  by Sarawakians and we can move forward with this unity of Sarawakian is very fitting and decisive says Mawan of his President of PBB who is also CM Sarawak.

Mawan continued,” The People will feel Inspired,Strengthened and will be Full of Expectations and he couldn’t agree more with CM Abang Jo that the 2019 Budget would further Transform Sarawak.

In this very short space of time since taking over as Chief Minister Abang Johari has indeed been working his plan in a way he knows best and have put forward to Sarawak a clear and precise way to develop the country.

His “people-centric”projects and his words of Inspiration especially on Unity of Sarawak will be a testament of his Forward Looking Leadership.

The People will know that he Walks his Talk.

Abang Jo’s Masterstroke,”People-Centric & Touch point”

Since the fall of the Federal BN Government in May 2018, Abang Jo and his ruling GPS Sarawak Government has worked Tirelessly Politically and also ensured that the State Government Administration is in Tandem with the Needs and Wants of all Sarawakians.

Sarawak GPS knows that the battle has just begun and PRN12 they will have the Might of Pakatan Harapan Machinery breathing down their throats. As it is now 6 months since,  GPS has focused and strategise its efforts to be Relevant to the People who voted them in PRN11.

Abang Jo’s team have gone back to the fundamentals. They have looked into the manifesto of PRN11 and are putting their earnest efforts to fulfill what is promised. GPS does not want that to come back and haunt them in PRN12.

Now that GPS is not answerable to the Federal Pakatan Government they will use their own strength and resources to govern the State to their best of their abilities. If PBS in Sabah,DAP in Penang, PKR in Selangor and PAS in Kelantan have held their own in governing their respective states GPS Sarawak will only need to take that cue.

Abang Johari pointed out that the Sarawak state government is led by GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak), which is also an acronym for Global Positioning System.

“We have direction and we have policies that are consistent. Once we say it, we do it. Unlike some others, they promise but never deliver.

Abang Jo has turned to the people and he will not let Sarawak down even to the extend of using its reserve funds to ensure their promises are being kept. “The man that wins the people’s hearts they say wins the world” and Abang Jo has kept his faith in his intuition and able administrators by his side.

What has Abang Johari done right which has irked Chong Chieng Jen the Pakatan Harapan Sarawak leader?

A local internet portal headlined,” Sarawak-Government-An-Irresponsible-Regime” and below are some of the extracted excerpts.

It reads,”The Sarawak decided to open its safe containing RM31 billion recently and allocate asizeable portion of it on rural development because it knows a change in government is “imminent” in the next state polls if it maintains a tight grip on the purse strings.

State Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Chong Chieng Jen described this political manoeuvre as “an irresponsible act of the highest degree”

Speaking at a press conference here today,Chong highlighted that although the state had RM31 billion in its bank account, the majority of the rural areas in the state were very underdeveloped.”

As the state government for over 50 years,Gabungan Parti Sarawak (formerly Barisan Nasional (BN) is clearly irresponsible with bad planning by keeping rural people poor.

“On one hand. they chose not to provide rural areas with basic infrastructure like electricity, treated water supply, tarred roads and proper schools, while on the other hand, they have RM31 billion sitting idle in the bank.” he said.

Chong noted that in the past,Sarawak BN was reluctant to spend for the people but shockingly, now that the  change of state government is imminent,GPS decided to use the reserves within the remainder of its current tenure.

Whoopie! Yahoo! Ooo Haa!! Let the drums roll and the trumpets be heard…

Abang Johari must have got it right with this Masterstroke and for Chong to say SHOCKINGLY it s beyond the WILDEST DREAM of anyone connected with the ruling GPS Government.

CM Abang Johari has already approved 309 projects under his “Walkabout Projects”, with an allocation of RM5.7 billion.

Abang Johari said,”These are people-centric projects and include the construction of roads and bridges, social amenities and the provision of treated water and power supplies. They are high-impact projects and will improve the livelihood of our people, especially in the rural areas.Their implementation too will create business and employment opportunities besides stimulating the state’s economic growth”

The Sarawak Government has even reached out to the people by making available funds for the repairs and rebuilding of houses and longhouses for the GPS assemblyman to ensure that the needs and wants of their constituents are well looked after.

CM Sarawak has reiterated today in his speech“We want all races, all regions, all divisions to enjoy the benefits of development that the Sarawak government implements.

ajwmA very Senior PBB and Assemblyman for Pakan Tan Sri  Mawan who just returned from “Together Mission” overseas with a new found solidarity with other GPS assemblyman said that CM Sarawak Abang Johari’s people centric programmes and projects have indeed “Touch point” to the people at large.

He continued,”His approach being people centric have won sizeable support which will only benefit the ruling government. In certain areas the CM knows the people will have high expectations and implementations are necessary for them to enjoy the basic needs and infrastructures.

The Chief Minister Abang Johari has strategise the state resources to ensure that the government programmes are implemented within the promises made during PRN11. This has augered well for GPS says Mawan.

The State of Sarawak are blessed with resources and its a hard choice for the state not to use the funds now and what was spoken by the Pakatan Harapan Sarawak Chairman “An Irresponsible Act of the Highest Degree” was a bit politically naive on his part.

Where else could the State turned too when the funds are not forthcoming as GPS is not part of the Federal led Coalition?

Mawan said Its a hard choice as GPS needs to function and carry out its promises to the people or just reserve it to the next government after PRN12 to deliver.

The Strategies which GPS are doing is politically correct and its NOT 2 YEARS FROM NOW TO IMPLEMENT BUT NOW.

Mawan continue in the phone conversation ,”when you have a gabungan make sure thats its a consolidated one” where the opposition find it difficult to dislodge.

Its not only a battle of the heart and mind but a strategy which will have the opposition in sixes and sevens. The DRY RUN for election has begun and GPS is making a head start.

Mawan is all for Abang Johari’s People Centric Programmes and Project implementations and he concluded with these words,”WE MUST GO ALL OUT TO DEFEND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DAY.”

Sarawak,”Together Mission”

The People of Malaysia spoke loud and clear on May 9th 2018 in a Watershed of World Electoral history.

What has changed since then? Has the people’s expectations being fulfilled?

Before we start pointing fingers or the BLAME GAME lets be certain that BN Was “SPUN OUT” by a very well oiled “touch point” propaganda which removed the BN Government after 50 years.

One could obviously argue that Najib’ s administration had all the firepower plus all those “handsomely” paid strategists to pull the Administration out of the hole.

Did they really know how to fight PEOPLE POWER? The issues were a plenty to contain and the people grasp this opportunity to air their grievances in the ballot boxes.

Lessons are being learnt which even the most Established Political University have to put this Malaysian takeover by the people in their syllabus. What’s more a 93 year old former Prime Minister for 22 years heading the Pakatan Harapan Coalition as the 7th PM of Malaysia.

Over towards East Malaysia and since getting out of Barisan National Malaysia Sarawak’s 4 coalition partners have formed a home based State Coalition Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) .

votersThe people at large sees this as a good start as it has removed the “octopus tentacles“in over Reliance to Federalism and are prepared to make decisions for the better good of Sarawak as a whole.
There are obviously many who will still be harping on “Old wine in New bottle.”Basically these are mainly opposition members and sympathisers who want to wrestle the State for themselves come 2021 State elections. They have their own Agendas to say the least.

GPS knows the reality, the truth and sentiments of the people on the ground. They know that it is also not business as usual for their assemblyman nor can they take anything for granted.

The opposition budding wannabees are already making their noises heard and are finding their best workable partnership to work with the Federal PH. There are already a warcry that if “May 2018 We Can PRN12 We Can”

Even the NGO “Sarawak for Sarawakians Movement” is getting into the mix. There are also wanting to form a coalition of Sarawak local based opposition parties to oust both PH and GPS.

They are aslo harping its their democratic right to participate if the people want them.

Isn’t this interesting?

Before we get ahead of ourselves, political adrenaline starts to flow, eyes popping up with reading all sorts of ‘winnable equations” lets retrace a few steps back prior the “End Game for BN”

BN under the leadership of Najib harped on “Cash is King” and “Might is Right”. The opposition coalition used this as a yardstick and turned it round by going to the ground and informing the people that they are the KINGS and not cash.

BN use the dominant power in ensuring that their mighty machinery will crush all before them. The feel on the ground was that the whole country was reverberating with the 1MDB Scandal which was too much to handle and the escalating prices of goods for the medium income to stomach.

The opposition knew that only a 5% switch in the Malay hinterland would bring them into power. They made their pledges and promises in their manifesto and kept harping on the same issues until the people bought into their propaganda.

They succeeded no doubt but now the reality has set in and to manoeuvre from broken promises to the people will have serious consequences in the future.

PBB Information Chief and YB for Muara Tuang  even said” clearly their PH manifesto was a big lie to the PEOPLE as many had believed in their Manifesto and voted for them to establish the New Government”idris88

Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia Senior lecturer of Faculty of Syariah and Law Dr. Muzaffar Syah Mallow said it would be deeply disappointing to see if any of the promises or pledges made in the manifesto is disregarded once the political party and who made the manifesto wins the election and in power.

He further added,” Political Manifesto normally appears during the election period and is used to persuade the voters to give their vote to the political parties. The Voters normally will give their vote to the political party based on the best political manifesto being offered”

Anwar Ibrahim PKR president-elect and newly elected Port Dickson MP when asked on this had this to say,”it was also “not quite right” to say that the people were entirely unhappy with the government as they could see that progress has been made in other areas of the manifesto.

The stark realities do demand that we re-look and take stock of the current situation.”

Is this a Diversionary Political Tactic and not facing the Truth that the PEOPLE are really hurting on the ground and there is too much politicking?

Even Dr Clarence a Catholic Priest and a Director of the Catholic Research Centre in Kuala Lumpur is giving his thoughts to the actual situation on the ground zero.

“I think it is time for the Pakatan Harapan government to stop reminding the rakyat repeatedly what the previous government did not do, but to tell us what this new government intends to do realistically.

If this country is going to get through this rough time of transition, I for one, need to see some light at the end of the tunnel to believe that we are on the right road to recovery.

But the way things are, it is like singing the song, one step forward and two steps back.”

PH Government does have all the brains with them and it does seem that they are still stuck into their role as opposition while not knowing that they are already the Federal government of the day.

What is taking them so long? Didn’t we hear that Anwar in one of his speeches said,’Bukan 20 hari, bukan 2 minggu 24 Jam saya umum Harga Minyak turun

Promises or is it just Rhetoric’s to win over the PEOPLE?

Old style politics is out and the People are now very media savvy and technology is at the touch of a button and within reach of their fingers.

We all know this quote by Abraham Lincoln,”You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”

GPS Former Senior Minister and presently assemblyman for Pakan Tan Sri William Mawan who is known to be very media savvy was contacted as he was on a “TOGETHER MISSION” en route to the United Kingdom with a number of State Assemblyman.

amawan8818He was asked on the current affairs of the country, the PEOPLE and how he sees the new PH Government.

These are his words,” “The Old BN Government has Gone. The New PH Government has come. There has been promises of abundance and reforms when they came into power to rule.Either way we can’t be both Right at the Same Time.

Expectations of the people are at an extreme high.

Time does not STAND STILL. It’s very crucial to put the blame game aside, administer and start governing the country.

The Pakatan Harapan Government must do “Less Politics and more Deliverance” or else the People Will Suffer.

The PEOPLE have voted them in and they vote,PH won.

He added further that the GPS Sarawak Government has answered the calls and touch point with the people by ensuring development plans within the next 2 years are delivered by the assemblyman of each and every constituency.

The Pakan assemblyman went on further and he quoted the Chief Minister,”Developing the rural areas is of the essence for the state government. As such, all elected representatives should strive to ensure smooth implementation of the RTP projects.

Furthermore he added the Chief Minister said,“Allocations for RTP, MRP and house-repair programmes will continue because the government under GPS has a strong financial standing to bring projects and improve infrastructure like roads and drainage and other amenities for the people in rural areas, whom we want to help and are the focus of the state government.”

The heat is on and GPS and all the incumbent assemblyman will know that the PEOPLE will not just want a change for the sake of changing.

The State Government of Sarawak will deliver its promises and if the assemblyman fails to deliver to their constituency they will suffer the wrath of the PEOPLE who will vote them in.

The “TOGETHER MISSION” is for the people,by the people and with the people of Sarawak and they will not be hoodwinked by promises a plenty.

PH will have a lot of catching up to do and the Sarawak Ruling GPS Administration is already delivering its part as spelt out in the 2016 Elections Manifesto.

It is safe to say that the PEOPLE want the government to outline its future development plans and even in the rural areas what more to say the urban areas of Sarawak they do not want to be caught in a “STAGNANT POOL

Clearly the direction of the PEOPLE is simple,”We are Kings”

Politics;”Rough,Tumble and Ruthless”

When one first enters politics into a “POLITICAL PARTY”  one would be welcomed with open arms ,camaraderie with all the niceties that comes along with me. Through the years one would experience that it’s not the beautiful picture that was painted in your head. If one is ambitious there will be many who will set up ‘booby traps” for that person to self-ignite. That’s ROUGH though buts that’s RULE No.1

When the walls starts to crumble it will be very difficult to patch up. Friends will then becomes sworn enemies and in the rule book to cut out the perception of “politics is a long haul” the essence of it all is to ensure it TUMBLES like in the English nursery rhyme “Humpty Dumpty” Who saves you after your TUMBLE in RULE NO.2 is not their concern but if one needs to stay relevant they also need to hold on to the clutches of straws with their hands.

STILL STAYING ON TRACK? Not giving up just yet..Next

Theories aside but practical matters in politics. One must be able to understand that political parties have hierarchy and proper control setups. Many ‘naive’,upstarts and newcomers find it difficult to understand and also “see”. That’s the truth and those who are not persistent and does not have the will power will eventually be washed ashore “BRUSHED ASIDE”. The RULE BOOK No.3 is of course the RUTHLESS.

It’s only eight( 8) letter words and in Malaysian Politics there are many who will wield their powers to maintain their own stability and foothold over and above the whole political scenario. In Sarawak, we know of the existence of them and have interacted, engaged and also being promised the world but decided to stay well clear in the final analysis or they say when “ELEPHANTS CLASH” someone else would benefit.

When this article of UMNO was posted below somehow it struck us that in time many 18 year old will try to join political parties for reasons best known to them. The Minister who put it up to the cabinet obviously is keeping things under wrap and have his own reasons. Time will tell.

Of course, no one would know the rough, tumble and ruthless world of politics until they themselves have been ‘booby trapped’ and be attacked by “HUNGRY WOLVES”

However, politics is such too that people will support the right candidates to represent them in their won constituencies. Not everyone can cut up to be a people’s representative and those who are put there will eventually feel the “HEAT”

The Write up below from – Raja Petra Kamarudin

In essence, without the 191 divisions, Umno will cease to exist. And without a single cent to their name, they will undoubtedly cease to exist because, in Umno, it is all about money. PPBM will then swallow or absorb all the 191 Umno divisions (which is already beginning to happen) and they will become part of Pakatan Harapan.

Today, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said in New York that Umno is doomed. He did not, however, say how and why.

And this will be how and why.

All 191 Umno divisions have received letters like the one below. What is happening is: all 191 Umno divisions are being investigated under the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA).

After this, the bank accounts of all the 191 Umno divisions will be frozen and their assets confiscated. Technically, all 191 Umno divisions would be penniless or bankrupt and would have to close down.

Mahathir is still the master-strategist and politician-extraordinaire unmatched by anyone thus far

After that, Pakatan Harapan, which is currently dominated by the Chinese, will become Malay-dominated like Barisan Nasional before this, which also will no longer exist by year-end.

You can say whatever you like about Mahathir, but one thing you will have to admit, though, is that he will go down in history as the master-strategist and politician-extraordinaire, never before matched by anyone. Love him or hate him, you certainly have to admire his political acumen.

191 of these letters have been sent out to every single Umno division

“Don’t TAMBAH the Problems”

Sarawak State Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah,”“We have had enough of leaders from Semenanjung showing their arrogance in Sarawak, telling the people that they could win over the state,”

PKR vice president Rafizi Ramli on scientific election campaign for Sarawak PKR 18 seats “I am sure there will be more than enough areas for us to penetrate which we previously considered as GPS strongholds in Sarawak,

Chong Chieng Jien DAP Sarawak Chairman,”PH government would accord 20 per cent royalty based on net profit in addition to the five per cent based on gross profit.”

Minister of Economic Affairs Datuk Seri Azmin Ali,”Sarawak would only get 20 per cent royalty from net profit and not from gross profit.”

Wow! This is even better, creamier, tastier and more juicy which appeared in the local daily which senior vice president of (PBB), Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof pointed out by Rafizi,“Sarawakians’ voices for the autonomy and rights of Sarawak would be heard and respected if PKR won over the state in the next state election.

After PH has taken over from the previous government there are much expectations from the people who voted them in. The above political statements are giving hopes and aspirations to ‘Hookwinked” Sarawakians that they can do better than the present GPS Sarawak Government.

Has it spun out of control and made the media craving for more?

One must realise though how the media works and Rafizi is certainly one who doesn’t shy away from the media spotlight and is even willing to pay the price and sticks his neck out to ensure he delivers the KNOCKOUT PUNCH.

As much as we don’t want to uncover how the secret works for “political perceptions or getting the messages across’ we want to inform SARAWAKIANS in our little way that sometimes half truths doesn’t mean that its’s the truth.

Are we confusing you all? Read on…

Let’s uncover the lid on the secret of how the media works and how one can capitalise on them to their advantage which will assist them to get the message across.

  1.  If  Sarawak GPS wins and are successful all the time the media will do very well and will be hugely popular
  2.  If Sarawak GPS is terrible and go from crisis to crisis for awhile the media will also do very well.
  3.  If Sarawak GPS is dull and sub-standard so like distinctively unimpressive is very quiet than the media take a little bit of hit.

Their papers will not sell and their circulation will drop. That’s how it works and we need to understand this mechanism and not be dragged in to a certain issue and be like a “MONKEY KENA CABIK”

Of course, most journalist would not want a banana skin on their faces. They will go to great lengths to source for a ‘remarkable story” to impress their paymasters and improve their credibility.

The PKR Vice President Rafizi knows it very well and he uses all words like “scientific” which a newbie in the journalistic field will be gasping for air. There is a dictionary mind you, and now we have our own lecturer and tutor Professor Google.

Here goes :-

The scientific method

At the core of biology and other sciences lies a problem-solving approach called the scientific method. The scientific method has five basic steps, plus one feedback step:
  1. Make an observation.
  2. Ask a question.
  3. Form a hypothesis, or testable explanation.
  4. Make a prediction based on the hypothesis.
  5. Test the prediction.
  6. Iterate: use the results to make new hypotheses or predictions.
The scientific method is used in all sciences—including chemistry, physics, geology, and psychology.
PKR (PH) is trying to get GPS pinned at the corner and struggling to get out of their corner. It does take a herculean task for the State GPS Political Parties to come to terms with the PKR Vice President as he keeps hitting and jabbing at the right angles.
Most of the statements are answered quickly by senior GPS high ranked politicians.
Isn’t it time the young and aspiring young politicians in the Pemuda wings of GPS come out and give the PKR Vice President a right hand to his chin.
Don’t just use the Facebook as a punching bag for the black operatives to get at your targets. Oh No!. we might be in for a good bashing here..
Anyway,we somehow sold ourselves short on this article and a check with a journalist friend who pointed to a rather interesting comment from a Senior Member of PBB who has been through many wars and have battle scars to prove.
A phone call was then made to Tan Sri William Mawan and he was quick to remark,”I’m media savvy, so please don’t twist“‘which was the same words used in a local portal
amawan888.jpgYes, he said that the youth must take the rough and tumble of politics and they must be able to get out of the hole first before they can walk on the moon. He is media savvy because he understands the political perception and knows what PKR is driving hard at.
There are issues to be addressed and the youth must be able to stand out and give a helping hand to their leaders and must not give extra burden to their leaders.

Don’t Tambah the problems.

They will in time be the future leaders but for now in this topsy-turvy political situation they must exert themselves to the front to protect the seats which GPS holds.
GPS seats he said,”winning the seats which we have won and can still win, this is the most prudent and prime consideration”
All 82 Sarawak seats are different and have different landscapes and those who are capable of retaining the seats must not give way just to appease the ‘selfish ends of those wanting the seats’
What’s the point of winning the seat while you still loose it to PH in the final analysis. The good examples he said we must learn from the mistakes of the recently concluded PRU14.

There is no hurry to replace youth over seasoned winnable candidates. Like it or not the media will have a part to play its part and GPS sooner rather than later need to EMBRACE it.

Mawan too is politically media savvy and he would be a guiding force for the youths to take over the seats in time to come. Certainly of course, not now where GPS will be fighting a battle which the ‘normal federal players ‘ are no more on their side.

Rafizi is capitalising on the PH new found Federal government to further push down the gauntlet of the people of Sarawak The Federal agencies would try to stay neutral but they themselves know who their paymasters are and would at the heat of the battle be sucked in. Hopefully not though.!!
PRU12 would not be the same and Rafizi has already started the countdown and tried to blind fold the rakyat of Sarawak with his tasty statements like,” he believes that with him and Anwar in PKR leading the party Sarawak would not be neglected by Putrajaya, especially if PH takes over Sarawak.
PBB senior vice president did not mince his words and for him to say this party members and Sarawakians must stand up and take heed,“This is just a blatant lie from Rafizi and the same party, which during the 14th general election had been making many promises in their manifesto to fulfil the demands from Sarawak.
Sarawak is the last bastion for the PH Government in their conquest and GPS would give them a good battle to safeguard Sarawak from overrun.
Sarawakians know who are capable of running their state and Karim has put the icing on the cake,”I have my trust and faith in Sarawakian voters who do not like to be pushed around and be given empty promises, especially on the return of state’s rights and (autonomy over) our oil and gas.”
Hence, now it’s over to you then Rafizi and PKR…….
