By-Elections “Bookie Odds…?”

Both these byelections have turned the bookies world into a frenzy.P185 had BN giving a headstart of 2000 votes earlier winning only 90 cents and now it hass dropped drastically to BN giving 500 (95 cents either way). What has happened? Many issues have been brought up and it seems the tables are turning towards a marginal win for BN or SAPP.

Over in Kelantan the euphoria of winning the Malaysia Cup for the first time in the States history has not affected the odds with PAS giving a headstart ot BN of 500 votes losing 85 cents. The football team has done the state proud and now the people of Kelantan will focus their minds on who will be the representative of N45. PAS holds 38 out of the 45 State seats while BN holds 6 with PKR 1 seat. The latest odds for Kelantan is PAS 500 votes headstart winning 80 cents.

Its anyone’s guess at the moment and the bookies odds are determined also by groundfeedbacks from various sources. Polling day is 4th of November and there is still time to ensure a shift for votes.

NO ONE HAS WON YET. WHO WILL BE TAKE THE WHEEL….!!

BATU SAPI, Oct 29 — It was second time unlucky for PKR candidate Ansari Abdullah when he tumbled into seawater after a wooden walkway leading to a Kampung Gas home here gave way.

Ansari, who was on his campaign walkabout in the fishing village, fell several meters into murky seawater just as he was about to step into a villager’s home.

He had been trailing behind Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim who unlike him made it without wetting himself.

Ansari, in his attempt to break his fall, managed to cling on to the wooden platform’s edge before tumbling into the water.

Several other campaign assistants right behind him, followed him into the water. He was later rescued by villagers who used a ladder to help him climb to safety. Ansari, clearly shaken, left the village shortly after the incident for a medical check-up.

“I am fine but it is just for precaution,” he told The Malaysian Insider.

He added that this was proof of the decrepit conditions of Batu Sapi villages.

“Their walk to their home daily is like a walk through a field of land mines,” he said.

Two days ago, Ansari took his first tumble when he was visiting Api-Api island off the coast of Sandakan.

During that incident, Ansari fell after a wooden platform attached to the jetty gave way and collapsed into the sea.

P185 Batu Sapi..”Broadband Penetration ..??”

No wonder…!!! Bugi Wijaya gone missing. Or did he fall like PKR candidate Ansari Abdullah together with NTV7 Journalists  into the sea after a wooden jetty they were on collapsed.? He was uncontactable and he told us that the Broadband Penetration in Sabah is Unforgivable.(…shoots)

Seems that the initiative of Maxis skyway VSAT together with a local based company for pinpoint mobile coverage for the rural communities has yet to be fully realised. Some journalists were also finding difficulties in getting their FEEDS across and are getting irritated. Maybe after the byelections the government will need to refocus their directions. Its a vital link to make Sabah and Malaysia a developed nation by 2020.

The stories also coming out from Bugi as he talked on the phone was also seems Yong Teck Lee is beginning to come on top and PKR has losts certain edge as mosts of their machinery are not led by locals(from Sandakan) Linda Tsens handicap seems to be her language and a bit too soft.

A BN YB sms to audie61″BN should be able to make it.Chinese leaning towards SAPP.Bumi shd go to BN.PKR have pblem,He is from Tuaran and he is contesting in Sandakan.Already 2 times in contest and both  lost…”

In Sandakan

All the hotels are fully booked with every single flights available arriving into Sandakan occupied.  The battle line has been draw with more than 26 nomination papers being sold by the Elections Commission in Sabah for the P.185 Batu Sapi seat parliamentary by election.

Although there will be two by election held concurrent at the same time(the other being the State seat of Galas in Kelantan), the whole nation is watching Batu Sapi closely.  This is the bastion of Barisan Nasional (BN) “fixed deposit” where it was Sabah and Sarawak which ensured the Federal Government stayed in the hands of BN in the last general elections.

The stakes are high for BN in its preparation for the Sarawak State election which will have to be held by next year.  The Batu Sapi by election is an opportunity for BN to quash ground gained by the opposition from its victory in the last Sibu by election.

The stakes are even higher for Director of Operation Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman who is also the Chief Minister of Sabah.  As the head of the state BN, he must ensure the seat is won with an improved majority of more 3,708 votes from the last election.

It is an open secret that things has not been well with some state component parties not being happy with the Chief Minister leadership.  They have been seen moving around together with a senior state UMNO leader who has been speculated by many quarter will be the man called upon to replace Musa as the next Chief Minister.  For the record under Musa’s firm leadership Sabah has developed progressively and this has seen the state reserved improved to RM3 billion compared to previous leadership.

With BN Chairman, Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak blunt warning to all UMNO leaders on changes he will be making in the near future during the recent UMNO annual general meeting, only a united BN in Batu Sapi will be able to deliver the safe seat to BN.  However, this remains to be seen with a faction walking out of the hall in apparent protest when the BN candidate Datin Tsen Thau Lin was announced by Musa on Sunday. Whether this is genuine protest by the grassroots or is there an unseen hand with a bigger agenda of toppling the Chief Minister will be known on polling day 4 November 2010.

The parliamentary seat of Batu Sapi felled vacant due to the tragic accident of its incumbent the late Datuk Edmund Chong Ket Wah.  It is expected to be a 3 corner fight with Pakatan Rakyat will be fielding its Tuaran Chief Ansari Abdullah and local Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) will be fielding its President Datuk Yong Teck Lee

P185 “Rose Among the Thorns”

It is just an idiomatic expression says Cindy of audie61 from Sandakan. The locals are warming up to Linda Tsen and many are saying that the BN coup “sympathy votes ‘might see her winning comfortably.

It’s going to be tough and hard work as SAPP Yong and PKR Ansari are not lightweights but the sentiments of the people might just be enough for BN to see her winning on the basis of her late husbands good work as MP.

The Batu Sapi nomination day has been set for tomorrow at the Sandakan community centre near here while polling day is on November 4.

Batu Sapi has 25,582 voters, including 1,535 postal voters.

The constituency near Sandakan comprises 15,099 Muslim Bumiputeras (59 per cent of the voters); 9,737 Chinese (38 per cent); 698 non-Muslim Bumiputeras (2.69 per cent); and 57 others (0.22 per cent).

ITS ALL SET FOR NOMINATIONS DAY.

P185 Batu Api-Updates

Political correspondent Bugi Wijaya in Sandakan

Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) today announced its President Datuk Yong Teck Lee as the candidate for the parliament seat of P.185 Batu Sapi. The announcement made in conjunction with the opening of the new SAPP Sandakan office saw the presence of former PKR division leader Datuk Nahalan Damsal who supported the SAPP to contest the seat.

The SAPP campaign is expected to be spearhead by former State Finance Minister Datuk Mohd Noor Mansor will see a keenly contest tussle for the seat by BN, PKR and SAPP. Both BN and PKR are expected to announce their candidate tomorrow but with more than 20 forms being sold by the Election Commission Malaysia, it is expected there will some aspiring independents offering themselves as alternative.

The contest will served a platform for every parties to test their strength given the current political climate of Sabah being a fixed asset for BN. As claim by Yong, there are a possibilities of three scenarios. One, BN victory with votes more then the combined of opposition parties; two, BN victory with less than the combined votes for the opposition and three either opposition party wins. In the first scenario, everyone would have to go back to the drawing board and re-strategize again. Two the opposition would have to sit down to discuss on proper seats sharing and three BN is finished.

With SAPP announcement all eyes would now be on who are the PKR and BN candidates ? It is getting interesting here.

Another insider news just received from Sabah has this ;-BN will have a very testing and tough fight against Yong Teck Lee. The ground is in favour of the former CM but many “goodies” will be thrown in which will benefit the people of P185.
