Speaking at the 1Malaysia Gawai Dayak gathering at Rumah Jarek Klambu in Lambir, Miri, yesterday, Najib said the chief minister could count on the federal government for support to take the state to greater heights of achievements.
“I would like to state my full support to the state government, led by Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem and his team. Although we are separated by the South China Sea, we are very much one strong and steady front.”.
Najib said the state had met the success yardstick for political stability, social harmony, and sustainable economic development, and these achievements had benefitted the people.
Development, he noted, had touched every nook and corner of the state, and the celebration of Gawai Dayak was thus apt.
All these achievements were the result of perseverance, patience, hard work and teamwork, he stressed.
“We should not take it (achievements) for granted; what we have now did not come rolling (by chance). We had to work hard for it.”
Najib said he believed in sharing the joy of being a Malaysian and of being inclusive.
“This nation belongs to all of us and we must work together under the spirit of one
He thanked all communities in the state for supporting the BN government all these years, which enabled the government to deliver the goods to the people.
At the gathering, Najib also declared open the development security and community development office, and public utility at the longhouse.
