Oooh Ai..!BN Sarawak Will still be Government after 2011..

BN Sarawak will still be the State Government after the next State elections. You don’t need to be a Harvard or Oxford Politically trained analysts  to see it happening. Realistically speaking yes but the opposition figures in Sarawak will beg to differ. On what grounds are we saying this? Do we need to substantiate the above statement?

Even Sim Kwang Yang MP for Bandar Kuching from 1982 to 1995 posting his article in Malaysiakini “The fighting cocks in Batang Ai” has this,”But the newly emergent PKR in Sarawak is a rag-tag rainbow coalition of sometimes very unlikely allies, and Dayak politics in Sarawak has been nothing less than divisive traditionally.”

A political lecturer who teaches in a local university said this is apparently what the opposition leaders are fighting for to gain political mileage but knowing that they are against the mighty machinery of the BN government.

They need to realise that BN is a united front while the opposition seems a loose front in Sarawak. In Peninsular Malaysia its delicately put together as ‘Pakatan front” but in Sarawak its still VERY DIVIDED. The lecturer said it will be true come the Sarawak elections and if the by election in Batang Ai is a gauge the metaphor,”United we stand,Divided we fall” will be more than an indicator for the opposition.

The groundswell is apparent with PKR/DAP making inroads into the interior and rural BN Bastions. Are the rural  areas ready for PKR or DAP? It’s another new political vehicle in which the rural folks seems confused with. There was the 1987 PBDS Dayakism and Permas platform in which 20 seats were wrestle out of a possible 48 seats.

The rural and interior landscape has changed dramatically since those volatile times. Would the voters just change and go against BN for something that they are unfamiliar with? 1987 represents the best time for the state to be in the opposition Maju group but it failed to materialise though the whole state was gripped with the ‘DAYAKISM FACTOR”.

What chances then does ‘KEADILANISM” or “AGI IDUP AGI NGELABAN” warcry adopted by top PKR leadership in its quests to take Sarawak  from BN have..? Maybe a sprinkling of seats here and there in the 71 State seats. We have to be realistic and this article in Malaysiakini where Sarawak National Party (Snap) is believed to be keen to field a candidate for the forthcoming by-election in Batang Ai is already an indicator. What’s more even DAP is saying that they are keeping out of Batang Ai but they must have an eye on the seat too.

Is this happening to BN? No,no,no Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) by concensus in the BN family is given the right to claim the seat. In the opposition front in todays tabloids headlined,”We’ll contest Batang Ai:SNAP committee” William Sirai Atom a central executive committtee member did not mince his words and this is politically very damaging to say the least ,” WE ARE READY FOR A THREE-CORNER FIGHT.SNAP WILL TRY TO WIN THE SEAT ON OUR OWN.”

In Malaysiakini report Kuching PKR division chief Dominique Ng said that PKR and Snap will have to agree on a single candidate as it was important to engage the BN in a straight fight. So in todays tabloids SNAPs statement must have thrown a spanner into the seemingly fragile political coalition of the opposition front. Is this formula still relevant..?

IMAGINE if  PBB has an interests and was to say this to PRS? What will happenThis would obviously not happen as the CM Taib has a firm grip on the state and the leaders know when and where not to meddle or dirty their fingers. The former CM Tun Abdul Rahman Ya’kub statement below  just about sums up the WHY..? WHY..? Oooh AI. BN Sarawak will still be governement after the 2011 State elections.

He said,”Only local leaders understand the situation in Sarawak because our scenario is different from that of the peninsula. The opposition does not understand this.”

Do wee need to elaborate further? The harsh terrain and vasts landscape of Sarawak is another factor which will ensure the BN stays on as governement. We already covered the PAKATAN BLOGGERS issue and also the HELICOPTERS. Also the HUGE WAR CHESTS  that the BN has is another determining factor.

However, of course all is not losts. The opposition will have to turn to the PEOPLES MINDSET to vote for them. But what chances are there when they can’t even field a United Front candidate?

The advertisement ‘It’s your Choice” It’s Ali cafe” should be practise by the opposition if they even have the slightest thought of wrestling the State of Sarawak from BN.

We say as always,” This is the reality of Sarawak politics and the tsunami of 308 is just a one- off Peninsula happening. Here in Sarawak the opposition is still not UNITED.

When you want to climb up a mountain, do you start from the bottom and through the difficult path to reach the top, your final success?

If we stay without spirit and powerful will in our hearts, and may be just hope that BN Sarawak come handling over the governance with grace and joy to Pakatan Rakyat, we will all wash our hands clean and just wait for it to happen or like Mr. Sim Kwan Yang, taking an earlier retirement talking dreams only

Winning or loosing in Sarawak battle ground, we should salute the spirit of DSAI who now is aged, worn out and with multiple attacks from BN every now and then. That is the spirit of a true warrior, like our older days fathers and ancestors fighting in the jungle of Malaya & Sarawak to gain for us today, the peace and state we enjoy today.

In the run up to the 2008 ge, the DAP, PAS, and PKR in west malaysia too were quarelling non-stop about seat allocation until the last minute. It is natural for political parties to do this. We have to wait for subsequent development on the Batamg Ai situation. There is still time left for the opposition to work it out.

In the case of a three corner fight, then it is also not so much a bad thing. It happened in the Serdang by-election in 1967, with Kit siang as the candidate, and the DAP lost. This led to the electoral pact in the 1969 GE, and the opposition won big in selangor, leading to the may 13 riot.

A 3 corner fight now is better than 3 corner fights all over the place in the next Sarawak state GE. Even a loss by PKR is not such a big deal; it is only one seat. It is what they do with the lessons from the loss that counts.

Further more, I still do not understand why snap wants to insist on contesting. is it the usual lakia mentality? If that is the way, they might as well stay away from the PR coalition and continue to fight losing battles until thy kingdom come.

Frankly, I am not impressed with the opinions posted here. Too much heart and no head. Hantam from the hip only. Let there be good discussion.

SNAP candidate probably will lost his deposit this time if they choose to stir the tussle knowing the fact they have no more play in the game. Dtk James Wong must advise his man to give support to PR-PKR. Time is running out while trying to maintain self pride above the past history. PBDS, PRS and SPDP are big lesson learnt. If they wish to continue their struggle in politic, both SNAP and STAR better team up with PR

Unless, this joker so called SNAP man/woman is bought by BN to reduce the votes for PKR. Nothing is impossible

I refer to the above posting and hereby wish to inform all readers of this blog that the said meeting was actually a FRAUD / HOAX.

The readers must be aware of the ploy to discredit Mr Nicholas Bawin from contesting in the Batang Ai by-election.

This is just another dirty tactic employed by BN goons to weaken PKR’s chances of winning the Batang Ai by-election.

Once again I wish to advise members of the public that THERE IS NO SUCH MEETING purportedly to be held by the so-called Dayak Bloggers Association on 3 March @ 2.30 pm at BDC Stampin.

Please don’t be duped by the false announcement.

    Thank you.

The following is the comment by Mr Kleen Singh in my blog (The Broken Shield) about the so-called meeting:-

    Dear Broken Shield,

I read one recent posting today made through Dayak Nation Blog Sport belonged to Cobbold John regarding an important announcement. Note that this is posted in your blog as it related dorectly to your artice about the by-election.

The NOTICE as it appeared was posted purpotedly by Dayak Bloggers Assocition (which I’m doubtful)was aimed at promoting negative campaign against Nicholas Bawin’s candidacy for the by-lection in Batang Air.

The notice may and can be read as follows:-

    1. This could be the work of divisive BN and detractors of PKR through psychology-in-reverse tactic.

    2. Work of some elements bent on discrediting Nicholas Bawin who has given up much personal & family well-beings as well as comforts in order to lead with principles of honesty and righteousness. Bawin has good credibility and is not tinted with corruption.

    3. Work by proxies of well-known shit-stirrer who foresees Nicholas Bawin as threat to his nominees’ leadership in PKR.

    4. As the notice was posted in Dayak Nation Blog Sport owned by Cobbold John, it implies that Cobbold John endorsed the publication of the notice with and / or without edition.

    5. If this is so, it is also implied that during the recent high-powered meeting of PKR top leadership in KL, the said blogger [who was an attendee of the meeting] was ‘taught’ to promote hate campaign against one potential PKR candidate for Batang Air by-election.

    6. Known as staunch PKR member and promoter, Cobbold John MUST give explainations to PKR Secretariat.
    His silence will spaeks.

I suggest a POLICE REPORT be immediately made on the wrong, faulty and cheatiny message posted above on the name of Sarawak Bloggers Association..

Thanks, Mr. Joseph Tawie for your swift alert and immediate response

For PKR members, please allow Lubok Antu to decide who they choose to represent PKR in this coming by-election

  7. Stewant Singh says:

The Batang Ai voters are far from being convienced that HE will not jump like a frog.
HE was hand picked by PBB , Datuk Celetine Ujang to contest in Batang Ai. When the seat was given to SNAP in 1987 HE signed up. He fought hard again PBDS candidate but lost. SNAP helped HIM to get a government job. HE was sacked for non performance. HE joined PBDS but fortunately the party was de-registered. HE later submit an application to join SPDP, accepted but later withdrew because Datuk Mawan cannot give him government post. HE then set up MDC but application rejected by ROS. Go back to SNAP again in 2006, again rejected. When PKR passed by HE took the opportunity. If not elected as candidate HE is contemplating of joining DAP or PAS. Not suprising if HE end up in BN( just part one of the Dahlil) to be continued…………..

  8. Mata Kuching says:

Sarawakians must be made to know that both Tun Rahman and Taib Mahmud have successfully mastermined and used developments as a form of commodity in exchange for votes in Sarawak political landscape to win every elections. After more than 45 years playing such game of deceit and ensuring our rural folks “kiss their hands before been given sweets”, the Dayaks must and together with the strong support of the other races demand whatever developments that had been long overdue before allowing any Dayak traitors working in cohort with these melanau pirates to step foot on any kampungs and longhouses and be bold to vote for a complete change in government. Dayaks must not be seen to be weak and to stupidly exchange their votes for promise of developments that will take another 1000 years to bring them on par with an urban constituency which have made the wise choice to have an opposition ADUN. Whoever is the chosen candidate from Pakatan Rakyat all right thinking Sarawakians living outside of Batang Ai constituency must give full moral and fincaial support, encouragements and guidance to the voters to rejct Taib and BN totally. This is not about a fight between PRS candidate and PR candidate .It is about Dayaks who want equal distribution of wealth. It is about Dayaks who want to grow their own wealth by having ownwership and rights of use to their own lands. It is about Dayaks who no longer want to be made to vote for BN in exchange for promises of developments in every election. It is now the time and moment to reject BN and to dethrone Taib starting with Batang Ai by-election.

  9. zztop says:

Irrespective whatever has been said, Sarawakians must help PKR to win the Batang Ai by election.
This is an apportunity for Sarawakians to gain back their rights, wealth and religious freedom from the BN politicians.
    WE MUST win this election.

  10. Brooke says:

Intelligence information from PKR Hq Kl suggest that all future party election candidate must be a graduate (at least a Degree holder).Thier finding revealed that the reason why 2 PKR and a DAP ADUN in Perak leap-frogged to BN is because they are non-graduates.The party described the three as a low class creatures and esaily tumble.
I am just curious if Bawin is qualified to contest given the strigent condition imposed. But don’t worry Batang Ai is not short of graduates.
