Khairy’s “Days are Numbered”

If this Malaysiakini report which has headlined “Arrest Khairy under ISA” was to be put up in cyber space before March 8 2008 there will only be one consequence. What will happen..? Do I need to elaborate.? Perak delegate Ting Tai Fook dared even to today called on the authorities to detain Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for making racist remarks. Believe it or not Khairy was one of the VIPs present. Has Ting been consistently following RPK blogs that he is putting himself as one who also subscribes to being”NO HOLDS BARRED”

Seems that he knows that Khairy is losing his invincibility as the two main reasons are Firstly,Khairy seems to be under attack from Tun Mahathir who seems to love to attack Khairy and his fourth floor boys.Secondly, even the UMNO youth divisions have summoned their courage and endorsed quickly Muhkriz Mahathir with 44 votes to Khairy’s 23 nominations presently.

Ting took Khairy, who is also the son-in-law of Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, to task over his remarks concerning the ratio of the bumiputera and non-bumiputera quota on scholarships. He said such remarks were not only condoned by the Umno leadership but also paved the way for Ahmad to make similar offensive remarks.

The pressure that is put on Khairys shoulders is immense and it will be a GREAT ACHIEVEMENT for him to overcome it. The view from many political pundits is that Khairy needs to show ,”What is his own LEADERSHIP QUALITIES.?” He needs to fight all the barrage of criticisms, all accusations which are being hurled, his overzealous ways in the Badawi administration and above all the Mahathir factor.

A veteran politician said to me over coffee at the MCA assembly,” He is being pushed to the wall and he will come out fighting.Believe me.” I smiled and said to myself and Khairy himself an Oxford graduate will have learnt the ‘British Bulldog spirit” and learnt from Sir Winston Churchill,”Victory at all costs, victory however long and hard the road maybe, for without victory there is no survival.”  So do you think Khairy’s days are NUMBERED..?

Anwar,’Idea Nicked’

It always boils down to WHO,HOW and WHY it is used which makes it significant. A BN youth boy turned round and said to me that the idea which was floated in this MCA Youth assembly is nothing new. In 1974 when the BN coalition was formed Michael Chen former deputy president of MCA was the secretary general. In this Malaysiakini report  MCA Youth has called for the Barisan Nasional leadership composition to be restructured, demanding that an additional No 2 post be created and held by the Chinese-based party.

Speaking at the wing’s 45th annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur today, MCA Youth chief Liow Tiong Lai said it was high time for the reform to be carried out at the BN level.

Sure, there was a thunderous applause for his proposal but MCA needs to reinvent and be more vocal as there have lost substantially during the last GE. MCA offered 130 candidates in the state and federal elections and they only won 46 seatsThis was a sharp fall compared to the 106 seats it won in 2004.

The message is clear: the Chinese have rejected the party. That is a blow to the MCA, which claims a membership of one million and is a founding member of the ruling Barisan Nasional’s (BN) forerunner, the Alliance. So far, it has shown little sign of recovery. Chinese voters will be hard to win back as they have repeatedly shown that they are willing to vote opposition.

MCA is under tremendous pressure and a political analyst said,”Its how you put the message across and use it to your advantage that will win you a headstart.” Why not just put a proposal like what Pakatan has been harping on,” 3 Deputy Prime Ministers” One for the Indian,Chinese and Malay communities. CHANGING WITH THE TIMES.” The people will benefit and so will Malaysia in the international arena. Don’t stop half-way and just say it out to win an election says the analyst. Push the agenda through to the next level.

Najib DPM, not too long ago at a Hari Raya gathering in Sabah has pointed out that if the government does not change, the people will change the government.MCA deputy president Chan Kong Choy in his speech also hopes that the new Umno leadership under Najib will lead other component parties in carrying out genuine reforms in the BN.He was officiating in the opening of the MCA Annual Youth meeting. Chan lent his support to the proposal put up by the youth wing and he said,”It’s a very appropriate proposal. Looking back at BN’s history, there is no hard and fast rule that the Umno leaders must take up the senior posts (in BN).”

There is a shift in the political landscape and its a reality that the BN and component parties needs to heed. The Pakatan governements are scoring rave reviews from the people in the 5 states they govern and BN needs to look wihtin itself now. The professionals are not joining the BN parties in droves and most of them are looking at the Pakatan governments models with interests. The who,how and why needs to be seen as a new concept of governance and the fact of the matter is the youth today knows more about politics than we realise. PBB,SPDP youth excos were seen exchanging pleasantries with MCA. One MCA member ask me where is SUPP youth..?

Who makes use of this SHIFT IN MINDSET will be crossing the line first in the next General Elections. I have told you so,BN or Pakatan and its up to you to wrestle in the bests minds and the political knowhow of party members. The rule is ,” DONT POINT ONE FINGER KNOWING…..”
