Malaysiakini correspondent Soon Li Tsin has this report http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/83549 :- Excerpts:- Former PKR Youth chief Ezam Mohd Nor held a 30-minute meeting with Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in Parliament today to submit his application form and a RM100 in lifetime membership fee to rejoin Umno.Immediately after the meeting, Abdullah held a press conference in which he welcomed Ezam back into Umno.
Ezam was also present but did not say anything. He will hold his own press conference tomorrow morning at 11am.
Abdullah, also the Umno president, said that Ezam had rejoined the party without any conditions or privileges.
“There are no conditions and no special treatment (attached to his membership). He didn’t ask for any. All he wants is to serve and fight for the party. We are not assigning him for any particular task. Not yet,” he said. Read the full report in Malaysiakini.
Reactions received from Deputy Prime Minister Najib:- welcomes back Ezam and he feels that he is an asset which will be beneficial to UMNO.
Meanwhile Education Minister Hishamuddin:-He has no qualms on Ezam joining back UMNO and he knows that Ezam is very passionate about UMNO.
Azmin Ali:- Everyone has a right to join or leave any party and Ezam has his own rights. In an interview at TV3 at 8pm tonight Ezam said that he will first go back to his former branch.
An UMNO Sarawak Protem member said that the homecoming is complete for Ezam and it augurs well for him just to serve UMNO and fight for the party. Ezam would also be a welcome help for us in Sarawak as he knows Keadilan enough to assist the Sarawak UMNO protem committee and his experience is invaluable to UMNO Malaysia as a whole the protem member adds.
Informed sources have said that Keadilan has directed the Sarawaks State liaison committee to speed up the setting up of divisions in the rest of the parliamentary constituencies still without divisions. Membership to Keadilan has also increased with new 500 to 1,000 members joining every week. It is already a concern to the Sarawak State Barisan National. The “Hawkish Eyes” are already focussed on Anwar and concerted efforts are being made by the State BN to stop the Keadilans machinery and movement in gathering momentum. The heat is on………..
