The top leadership of UMNO the Number 1 and Number 2 seems to be all for Ezam Mohamad Nor’s( former political secretary to PKR’s de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim) from his crossover from PKR to Umno. Ezam will relinquish his position as head of NGO Gerak which amongst others promotes corruption-free culture and free media.
Inside sources from UMNO has welcomed the move as timely given the Government’s effort and initiative to strengthen judicial independance and anti-corruption legislation. UMNO which was battered from all angles by the opposition in the last general elections is now turning its “cannons back” to strengthen the party, regain the trust of grassroot members and the people by revolutionising the system in tandem with the present needs. The tempo has moved up a decible by UMNO and they know all their good deeds are forgotten and only the negative side has been highlighted.
Will Ezams timely move help UMNO and the ruling BN coalition? Whatever his new platform all of us will be able to judge him.Ezam we will be watching…..!! A journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step.
