Mukhriz Is staying with UMNO

Mukhriz Mahathir has urged all UMNO members and all Malaysians to call for Abdullah to resign at a Press conference. He will not resign from UMNO and his actions will certainly create more than a ripple in the already volatile party scenario. It is anybodys guess whether this is another political strategy engineered and cleverly put together by the former PM of Malaysia Tun Mahathir Mohammad.

Loyalty and Love to the Party is the rallying cry by mosts UMNO leaders and all problems should be solved internally and as Johor MP Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad puts it not “My Way.” Wanita Umno chief Rafidah Aziz meanwhile said that Mahathir’s action looked as though he was punishing the party over issues which he was not happy about.Even the vocal Sabah UMNO leaders who have earlier voiced their concerns to the government in Parliament are in unison in that they are not in anyway disloyal to UMNO.

So will Mukhriz Mahathir have the staying power for the onslaughts that he will get from all corners of UMNO? Abdullah will be just waiting for his next move…

Two main points came out from this mornings 2 hours meeting in that there are still to receive namely 1. A written letter from ROS who is the “Legal President of PRS”. 2. In respect of a confirmation from the Registrar of Societies on 7th September 2006 of YB Datuk Sri James Masings Jemut Masings violation of Article VIII(15) (b) of the constitution of PRS.

The Divisional leaders also stressed their support for YB Larry Sng Wei Shien as the legitimate President unless ROS rules otherwise. The 8th of April 2008 letter contains amongst which the ROS to produce in writing a decision that is whether it is Dr.James or Larry as president of PRS. As of now the Green Heights headquarters have yet to receive a reply of any sort from the Registrar of Societies.

There was also a strong worded statement in,” that the decision one way or another from ROS will stop the confusion at the grassroots level and the perception of the public.” Futhermore it  will allow the members to move on and think of their own political futures.

The Divisional Chairman Councillor Matthew Amarican from Kedup in Serian was quick to point out to the press fraternity present that most grassroot leaders still want to be in BN but if their voices are not heard their next course of action will be drastic especially with the political scenario so volatile at the moment.

The Only Lady Chairman, Councillor Josephine Mawat from Pakan Division when interviewed was very gracious and wished that all leaders could reconcile for the greater good of PRS as a whole and Barisan National. “We should all come back and work together and hopes that Dato Sri.Dr.James Masing would forgive those who went against him.” If Dr.James can do that he will be held highly as a “good” leader and the objective of the Party when it was first established will be fulfilled. Let us try harder to get the Party back as one,she added.
