Its been a week full of Pakatan Political unhappiness in Selangor, Perak and Sarawak. Headone dissatisfaction, unhappiness and all has been played up in the national mainstream, local dailies and malaysiakini portal. This report http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/95645 of Mike quitting Selangor PKR deputy liaison chief’s post set the wheels in motion.

BN has been quick to capitalise on this subject and yesterdays coverage by malaysiakiniTv where M Jeyachandran, the confidential secretary to Kapar MP S Manikavasagam was asked to leave a gathering of PKR’s Indian members who had gathered at the party HQ to show support for the leadership. Is this really happening in PKR Selangor? Perak has also been making the headlines..What about in Sarawak then..? Much has been written in our earlier reports and this does not look too GOOD does it..?

Jeyachandran said we would have made kecoh, kecoh but no need and we should not ignite the fire for BN to capitalise and we are solid behind the leadership of DS Anwar Ibrahim.Representatives  of the group some of whom came from other states gave speeches in Tamil in support of PKR.

PKR SG Salehuddin Hashimwho spoke refutted claims that the problems affecting the Indian members were serious. “Such matters can be settled amicably between the party leaders and members. It’s only outsiders who try to portray us as having problems. In fact the BN had not been able to help the indian community for the past 50 years and thats why the Indian supporters are with us.”

Pakatan Rakyat politicians have been issuing statements denying that cracks were appearing in the coalition because of open disputes between its members recently. Even DPM Najib said this,” the political storm in the Pakatan Rakyat proved that the parties in the pact did not have a common policy to be able to govern the country. This is happening when they have not even ruled the country. As an opposition pact, they seem to be going different ways.”

We wonder how Anwar would counter this statement..? Anwar would not be back for another couple of days but even before he comes back there is already a light at the end of the tunnel. The embattled MP for Kapar S. Manikavasagam said he would “live or die” with PKR despite his differences with Selangor’s Pakatan Rakyat leadership and he had no intention of jumping ship. This was reported in an internet portal where he has snubbed the invitation by two Umno leaders for him to join Barisan Nasional.

Politics today is so fluid that another day brings another different situation. Now the whole scenario would be that BN has come to entice the MP for Kapar. Its a BIG POLITICAL GAME and we should not always take it as face value.

If you remember the early seventies there is a Scottish Boy Band by the name of Bay City Rollers who for a relatively fervant but brief period were rolling in the ‘ROLLERMANIA” and they were worldwide teen idols. Their song “ITS A GAME” was a breakthrough and for me to use this as comparison between Pakatan and BN this must mean something. For change and changes to happen there is an element of FEAR. Of course the band did put together with the album when it was losing its support with 2 other top charting singles in .”You make me believe in magic” and “The way I feel tonight”

The Kapar MP must have heeded some advises and he knows it’s a game BUT Anwar is his idol and he believes that Anwars magical charisma would make him say,”live or die” for PKR. He went on to say this too,”crossing over would betray the Hindraf 5, who have been detained under the Internal Security Act, and voters in Kapar who voted overwhelmingly for PKR on March 8.

Of course there exists in any political organisation certain sections who are not always happy with the decisions which are arrived at for the greater good of all parties concerned. They are ways and methods to go about and deal with situations but occasionally drastic actions do serve its purpose.

BN and Pakatan will have to continue to address these problems as there is a saying which always crops up,”NOT EVERYONE WILL BE HAPPY”. Its after all Politics and those leaders who are too silent are not CUT OUT to go FAR………

LATEST:- SABAH STORY FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT- Bugi Wijaya

As Sarawak politics moved up a gear on 9 January 2009, in Sabah its 7 January 2009.  Its the day where PBRS President Tan Sri Joseph Kurup will know the result of his appeal filed on 11 September 2008, against the elections petitiion result which was ruled infavour of Parti Keadilan Rakyat Danny Anthony Andipai.

Already Pensiangan has been seeing a burst of extra visits by Federal Minister and also government departments.  The Jabatan Hal Ehwal Khas under the Information Ministry has posted a number of their field officers from other constituency to gather information on the ground beside identifying potential ‘meet the people session’.

With all these activities, its seems that BN is resigned to the fact that there will be a by-election for the seat soon.  A million dollar question now is that who will be representing the BN and also the opposition?  With former PBRS Secretary General Datuk Bernard Maraat who was also the ex-member of Parliament for Pensiangan (before he was droped in favour of Kurup in the 2008 General Elections) staking a claim under the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) banner.

On the other front, opposition PKR has not named anyone yet but it is believe to be a tussle between Datuk Dr. Jeffery Kitingan and Danny Anthony Andipai. In various places that I have visited, the sentiments are the voters would prefer a local.  There is also speculation in the local press that Sabah Progressive party (SAPP) would likely field a candidate should there be a by-election.

So it going to be a crowded field but unlike Peninsular or even Sarawak, the local voters will most likely stick to Barisan Nasional. They look forward to the fund and development that this by-election will bring about.

So if you think 2008 was an overdose of politics, welcome to 2009 with its start of politics as early as 6 January 2009 with the nomination for Kuala Trengganu by-election.

Welcome to Malaysia Bolehland.
