James was a bitter opponent of Taib Mahmud in the Ming Court incident in 1987 or thereabouts. But later he turned “traitor” to his own Dayak people by becoming a staunch supporter of Taib after being bought over. James used to support the BN concept of race politics provided the Dayaks as the largest community in Sarawak hold political power including occupying the CM’s position. But when Taib bought him over and made him a minister, James made complete U turn to support Taib and changed his tune of Iban Unity to Sarawakian unity a la BN concept where Taib and minority Melanaus/Muslims/Malays rule. James used to attack Alfred Jabu, his fellow Iban, as a lackey or stooge of Taib when he was in the opposition in PBDS and heroworshipped Moggie. But when Moggie too was neutered at the federal level to become one of Mahathir’s stooge, James changed his tune, supported Taib and is a good buddy of Jabu, perhaps trying to become an even bigger Taib stooge than Jabu himself!

Now with Anwar and PR about to enter Sarawak politics as Taib slowly fades out, is James going back to his old ways of championing Dayaks and a Dayak CM after Anwar dangled the carrot in front of him? If James does that, then he is truely machiavellian, but that is what most politicians are anyway!
